Job Description - Milling Foreman - Richmond

Job Title: Asphalt Milling Foreman
Location: Richmond

 

Major Role and Purpose:
  • Supervise and manage Milling Crew operations to ensure the overall success of any job or project assigned through efficient management of time, personnel, and cost. Organize and lead a crew to perform milling activities safely and efficiently.
Reports to: Project Superintendent                                                                                                                         

Description of Duties:                                                                                                                   
  • Ensure the safety of crew members and the public who may interact with the job.
  • Plan, assign and direct work; address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Monitor quantities, time, and equipment used on the project.                                            
  • Coordinate and schedule trucks and equipment to the job site.           
  • Ensure labor and other resources are adequate.
  • Supervise and train workers.                                                                              
  • Prepare and maintain required reports.         
  • Communicate daily with the Project Superintendent or Project Manager to discuss schedule and production needs.       
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and crew performance.                            
  • Coordinate and schedule preventative maintenance on equipment.                                                  
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings and enforce safety policies and procedures.                
  • Prepare assessment of any damage and arrange for necessary preparations.            
  • Review, verify and submit timecards.                                                                       
  • Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.                                                            
Education:         
  • High School Diploma / GED.                                                                                                                
Work Experience/Qualifications:                                                                                                                            
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in milling/paving operations for highway and road construction.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Milling Foreman or equivalent.
  • VDOT experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.              
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.                                                            
Physical Demands:
  • Job requires the following motions: driving, standing, sitting, squatting, reaching, pulling/pushing, and lifting.
  • Required to drive.
