New England Caseworks specializes in commercial casework and millwork solutions, built by experienced craftsmen to meet the needs of the Education, Healthcare, Commercial, Industrial and Laboratory markets. 


 


Millwork/Casework Drafter


We are looking for a Millwork Drafter who is responsible for programming and preparing parts list, bill of materials and shop drawings in AutoCAD or Microvellum software. The person will work internally with the manufacturing/production floor, estimators, project managers, and lab drafters to ensure the customer’s requirements are met. 


Work directly with the Production Manager regarding production timelines.  Work with an existing team to coordinate drawings and provide quality design for customer approval and manufacturing job packets. Must be able to articulate and communicate professionally through face to face, phone and electronic communication. This is a full-time, hourly position with standard hours of 7am-3:30pm M-F, reporting to the Production Manager. In this role you will be responsible for optimizing yields and order material per specification, in time to meet production schedule. You will assist in the daily flow of information in the front office in order to provide timely communication, estimates, drawings and materials in order to meet customers’ schedules.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities


The Millwork/Casework Drafter will handle the following tasks on a daily and weekly basis



  • Take lead role in coordinating drafting tasks with the production schedule.

  • Assist with the implementation and setup of Microvellum software.

  • Assist with quantity take-offs and clarifying scope in order to generate and qualify new work

  • Use AutoCAD to produce shop drawings in Mircrovellum environment to generate production orders

  • Program details and sections for fabrication, including all CNC machining.

  • Assist NEL drafting department with design of custom/modified products prior to shop drawing submittal

  • Coordinate with NEL drafting department manager on a weekly basis for product drawings

  • Coordinate with project manager(s) and production manager to maintain schedules and deadlines

  • Proactively review job list for new projects

  • Review new projects with project team to develop time line for each project

  • Assist/Prepare schedule for weekly coordination meeting

  • Design/Draw products as needed for production for automated equipment

  • Process projects through Microvellum and Cutrite

  • Work with Purchasing to identify deadlines for material counts

  • Prepare stock requisitions for purchasing

  • Prepare and distribute manufacturing paperwork, product labels and packing slips

  • Proactively coordinate projects with project managers to close open items

  • Build and maintain Microvellum product library

  • Help streamline process from shop drawings to fabrication


Qualifications



  • 1-3 years AutoCAD experience. An associate's degree or certificate in drafting is required.

  • Millwork/Cabinet-making experience a plus

  • 1-3 years of experience programming production software (Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, Solidworks, or similar software)

  • Knowledge of layout, shop drawings and construction of customized commercial casework & millwork

  • Familiarity with materials and hardware for commercial casework and millwork

  • Estimating, purchasing and scheduling experience is a plus

  • Experience working with Owners, Architects, Contractors and Designers

  • Able to effectively manage information, schedules and people

  • Well-organized and able to appropriately prioritize tasks

  • Professional and clear communicator

  • Enthusiastic and positive approach to position and tasks
