Help the Airmen who deploy first perform at their best.
The 621st Contingency Response Wing moves fast. Its Airmen deploy into demanding, high-tempo environments where focus, composure, and clear decision-making make the difference. Owen Health Care is looking for a Mindfulness Coach to give them the mental edge to match their physical readiness.
In this role, you'll provide nonclinical mindfulness and mental-performance coaching that strengthens focus, resilience, stress-management skills, cognitive readiness, and performance under pressure. You won't be working alone: you'll be part of an integrated human-performance team alongside an Athletic Trainer and a Functional Strength Coach, bringing mind and body training together.
A note on scope: this is a performance-enhancement, nonclinical coaching role. Formal mental-health diagnosis, clinical counseling, psychotherapy, treatment, and patient care remain the responsibility of the appropriate Government medical and behavioral-health providers.
What You'll Do
- Design and deliver evidence-based mindfulness and mental-performance education tailored to military mission requirements
- Teach practical techniques that improve attention and concentration, emotional regulation, stress management, mental preparation, and performance readiness
- Coach Airmen on cognitive resilience, decision-making under stress, fatigue management, and sustaining performance during high-tempo operations
- Lead group workshops and individual coaching sessions within the approved nonclinical scope
- Integrate mindfulness techniques with physical training and other human-performance activities
- Coordinate with squadron personnel to schedule accessible, mission-relevant training sessions
- Build portable mindfulness and performance exercises Airmen can use during deployments, field operations, high-tempo missions, and other demanding operational environments
- Recognize issues outside the scope of nonclinical coaching and make appropriate referrals through Government medical or support channels
- Take part in integrated performance assessments and multidisciplinary planning
- Track participation and program outcomes using Government-approved tools
- Provide accurate information for required monthly program reports
- Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
- Maintain all required professional credentials
- Complete required continuing education, installation training, and program onboarding
What You'll Need (Government-Specified Minimum Requirements)
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology or Counseling, as specified in the solicitation. Applicants whose degree does not meet the solicitation's specified educational requirement may not meet the Government's minimum qualification.
- Credential: Active National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). It must be active/current, consistent with the Government's clarification requiring an active NCC. Please note: a general mindfulness, meditation, wellness, or life-coaching certificate, or similar course completion, does not satisfy this requirement.
- Experience: At least two (2) years of relevant professional experience in counseling, mindfulness, mental performance, resilience, stress management, behavioral performance, or a closely related area consistent with the solicitation.
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizen.
- Background Screening: Ability to successfully meet all applicable background screening, drug testing, and installation-access requirements.
- Installation Access: Ability to obtain required base identification/CAC (as applicable), complete installation access procedures, and complete mandatory Government and installation training.
- Nonclinical Scope: Demonstrated ability to work within a nonclinical mindfulness and performance-coaching scope, and to recognize when an issue exceeds that scope and refer appropriately through authorized Government medical or support channels.
