Department: Visual & Performing Arts Academy (VAPA)

Reports to: Visual & Performing Arts Director

Compensation: $40,000-46,000/annually

Job Summary: The Minister- K5-6th Grade Art teacher will implement through daily instruction the appropriate educational curriculum given by the Visual and Performing Arts Director, and be an advocate for all visual and performing arts programming. The teacher will create and maintain an educational atmosphere that encourages effective student learning and supports school and LMCM's mission and core values. This teacher will report directly to the Visual and Performing Arts Director and work under the South Campus Principal.

General Performance Responsibilities:

• Administers appropriate curriculum for K5-6th Grade Studio Art
• Develops and implements the components of effective lesson instruction
• Integrates technology into the instructional program appropriate for the visual and fine arts
• Analyzes student progress and provides appropriate instruction and guidance for improvement
• Ensures assessment regulations and guidelines are followed at all times
• Assists in coordinating and programming for elementary, middle, and high school, and within the curriculum strands of fine, visual, and performing arts
• Ensures the art facilities support instruction and are attractive, functional, organized, clean, and safe, with proper attention to visual, acoustic, and thermal environments
• Works cooperatively and collectively with administrators, staff, parents, and the community
• Creates, stores, and distributes student artwork when necessary
• Provides artwork for displays at any scheduled performances, both on and off campus
• Participates in all fine arts events scheduled or assigned by the Visual and Performing Arts Director
• Participates in other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in the Arts or Education, or a minimum of five years teaching
