Job Description - Minister of Music and Worship Arts

Description

The Minister of Music and Worship Arts serves under the leadership of the Director of Music to help fulfill the mission of EMIC Music. This role is instrumental in the planning and execution of worship services, special events, and musical productions. As a spiritually mature and musically talented leader, the Minister supports the Director of Music in overseeing all facets of the worship and music ministry at EMIC. Working in close collaboration with the Director of Music and pastoral leadership, the Minister helps craft worship experiences that embody the church’s vision and core values. This position also provides leadership in worship planning, team development, creative production, and spiritual formation. Additionally, the Minister manages the operational and administrative aspects of the music ministry, ensuring excellence and alignment with EMIC’s mission.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead worship at weekly services, conferences, and special events with spiritual sensitivity and musical excellence.
  • Assists the EMIC Director of Music in selecting and arranging music that aligns with EMIC’s theological values, prophetic direction, and congregational needs.
  • Assists the EMIC Director of Music in directing and rehearsing choirs, bands, and vocal teams across adult, youth, and children’s ministries, including KCBC.
  • Ensure seamless integration of music with preaching, media, and other service elements in collaboration with the Director of Music.
  • Provide spiritual leadership to worship teams through prayer, devotionals, and discipleship, while modeling a lifestyle of worship, integrity, and humility both on and off the platform.
  • Mentor and disciple team members, fostering spiritual maturity, unity, and a culture of accountability and servant leadership.
  • Develop and implement music education programs, including private lessons, group classes, and workshops in voice, instruments, theory, and songwriting.
  • Create and direct age-specific choirs and ensembles for children, youth, and young adults.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Arts team to incorporate drama, dance, and multimedia into worship experiences.
  • Plan and execute seasonal productions, outreach concerts, and volunteer appreciation events.
  • Partner with Student Ministries and KCBC to lead worship for chapel services, youth gatherings (14forty), and young adult services (The Bridge).
  • Mentor student worship leaders and musicians, providing training, feedback, and spiritual guidance.
  • Coordinate auditions, rehearsals, and service planning for student-led worship teams, and facilitate clinics and masterclasses in worship leadership and performance.
  • Assists the EMIC Director of Music in managing the EMIC Music calendar, ensuring alignment with ministry events and avoiding scheduling conflicts.
  • Support administrative operations including preparation of purchase requests, MSRs, expense reports, contracts, and invoices.
  • Maintain accurate records of music libraries, instruments, costumes, and event documentation.
  • Oversee travel logistics for guest artists, contractors, and ministry guests.
  • Manage worship service logistics using Planning Center Online (PCO), including service flows, team scheduling, song selections, and rehearsal planning.
  • Maintain reporting systems such as Rapid Cue and monthly credit card reports for financial accountability.
  • Communicate vision, updates, and expectations clearly through meetings, emails, phone calls, and social media.
  • Recruit, train, and empower volunteers to serve in worship, administration, and production roles.
  • Plan and host volunteer appreciation events to celebrate contributions and build community.
  • Develop leadership pipelines for emerging worship leaders, musicians, and creative artists.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, encouragement, and excellence within the team.

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in music, Worship Arts, Ministry, Theology, or a closely related field is preferred, reflecting a strong academic foundation in both musical and spiritual disciplines.
  • Advanced training or certification in areas such as worship leadership, music education, choral conducting, or theology is highly desirable and demonstrates a commitment to continued professional and spiritual development.
  • Candidates with seminary coursework, Bible college education, or ministry internships will be viewed favorably, especially if their experience includes practical application in worship settings.
  • A combination of formal education and substantial hands-on experience in church music ministry may be considered in lieu of a degree, provided the candidate can demonstrate strong leadership, musical proficiency, and theological alignment with EMIC’s values.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Travel to various sites for ministry on behalf of EMIC or KCM.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate a spirit of excellence, self-motivation and the ability to take initiative
  • Operate with pre-emptive thinking, must be discerning and able to make good judgment decisions with minimum supervision

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:

  • Computer, Telephone, Audio Equipment, Printer, Copier, Fax Machine

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, telephones and other office equipment
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
  • Requires excellent hearing and vocal abilities
  • Requires normal range of vision
  • Must be able to pull, push, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, move or carry equipment

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to multitask, problem solve and organize, with ability to see the big picture as well as the details, a proactive thinker, a visionary, motivator, decisive and confident

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Works in a fast-paced creative environment including rehearsals, church services and an office environment 
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends

OTHER:

  • Born again believer and must adhere to the doctrines of this organization as upheld by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland and their appointed representatives
  • Must work well with others, as a team and according to Romans 16:17, must not cause dissension and division
  • Must maintain a good attendance record
  • Must be a member of EMIC, regularly attend church services, and support the leadership of EMIC.
  • Must be a regular tither to EMIC.
  • Must possess a servant’s heart and operate as Armor Bearer.
  • Sensitive to the needs of others, which includes a love and commitment to the members and congregation of EMIC and Kenneth Copeland Ministries staff.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with diverse groups of people, considerable skill and diplomacy in communication. Ability to build effective working relationships inside and outside departments or groups.
  • Self-motivated and takes initiative. Ability to react with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require quick response or turnaround.
  • Operates with pre-emptive thinking and must be discerning and able to make good judgment calls with minimum supervision.
