Job Description - MLA Elementary Resource Teacher

Our Organization is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to fill a maternity leave position at a local elementary school. This full-time role runs from mid-September through January 2026 and will focus on delivering resource services to a small caseload.

As the Resource Teacher, you will provide targeted instruction in reading and math aligned with each student's IEP goals. You'll work collaboratively with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure a smooth continuation of services and consistent student support. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in a supportive, student-centered environment with a manageable caseload and clear structure.

In this role, the teacher will deliver small-group instruction tailored to each student’s IEP goals, ensuring lessons are both accessible and effective. Responsibilities include tracking and reporting student progress through consistent data collection and assessment, supporting the implementation and compliance of IEPs, and collaborating with school staff and families to foster student success. The educator will also be responsible for creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and valued.

8–9 Students' Caseload.

Elementary School | Illinois District.

Temporary | Maternity Leave Position.

Mid-September 2025 – January 2026.

Requirements

Qualified candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field, with a master’s degree preferred. A valid Illinois Professional Educator License with an LBS1 endorsement is required. Successful applicants should have experience working in resource settings and with small-group instruction, along with strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills to thrive in a team-based educational environment.
