Job Description - Mobile Pantry Support Coordinator

JOB TITLE:                Mobile Pantry Support Coordinator    Non-Exempt


 


REPORTS TO:           Director of Distribution  



SUPERVISES:           None                                   SALARY RANGE: $20.00 - $27.00/Hour DOE

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for preparing and assisting with inventory management, as well as loading and unloading products—primarily for Food Mobiles FM1, FM2, and MFPs. Duties include staging and organizing products for distribution, accurately recording inventory movement, and following all food safety guidelines. This role also involves keeping vehicles and work areas clean and organized, setting up and breaking down Food Mobile sites, and providing support to clients during distributions. The position also includes driving and completing deliveries as needed.



Principal Responsibilities:



  • Transport, prepare, and assist with the loading and unloading of products—primarily for Food Mobiles FM1 and FM2—while following all applicable policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

  • Staging, organizing, and documenting incoming and outgoing products accurately; follow FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.

  • Assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of Food Mobile distribution sites, providing support to both staff and clients.

  • Perform driving duties and complete scheduled deliveries, maintaining compliance with traffic laws, safety regulations, and proper vehicle operation.

  • Deliver to and pick up from partner agencies or donors as needed within the service area.

  • Ensure outgoing deliveries are complete and correct, including frozen and perishable items aligned with agency needs.

  • Lead the completion of all delivery-related paperwork and maintain accurate logs.

  • Coordinate early morning delivery schedules, ensuring adequate route coverage and shift planning with the Director of Distribution.

  • Assist with vehicle maintenance coordination, including leases, rentals, and safety checks; ensure drivers remain compliant with log requirements and safety standards.

  • Operate warehouse equipment safely, including pallet jacks, forklifts, and scales; assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace.

  • Supervise volunteers during distribution activities and support team operations when additional coverage is needed.

  • Maintain positive relationships with donors, partner agencies, and volunteers to support smooth communication and ongoing collaboration.

  • Ensure proper storage and rotation of perishable goods in designated refrigerated and freezer spaces, removing outdated products

  •  as needed.

  • Complete required forms, reports, and logs related to inventory, distribution, and transportation in a timely and accurate manner.



Qualifications 



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience 

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of The Food Depot

  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with coworkers, managers and customers; ability to effectively communicate problems and issues

  • Ability to read and comprehend packing slips and orders 

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide along with a basic understanding of weights and measures

  • Must be computer literate; knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, inventory database experience a must



  • Commitment to accuracy and thoroughness


 


Employment Requirements



  • Must possess a valid Class D Driver’s License; a Class A CDL is highly preferred but not required.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of The Food Depot

  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with coworkers, managers and customers; ability to effectively communicate problems and issues

  • Ability to read and comprehend packing slips and orders

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide along with a basic understanding of weights and measures

  • Must be computer literate; knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel; inventory database experience a must

  • Commitment to accuracy and thoroughness

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a daily basis



Physical Environment



  • Employee will spend approximately 35% of the time driving a vehicle, including trucks, forklifts, and other machinery.

  • Approximately 25% of time will be spent in a warehouse environment, and 40% at Food Mobile distributions.

  • Requires regular travel to other facilities within the service area and throughout the state.

  • Potential for future out-of-state travel, including the possibility of overnight stays.

  • Must be able to enter, operate, and control a forklift and other warehouse equipment.

  • Work conditions may include exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures.

  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to load and unload items into and out of trucks safely and efficiently.

  • Required to operate forklifts and pallet jacks on a regular basis.

  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment.

  • Noise levels are typically loud in the work environment.

  • Start and stop times may vary, depending on delivery schedules and operational needs.
