Atlantic Health Hackettstown Medical Center is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our Rehabilitation team as a Mobility Technician. This is a Per Diem position with variable weekday, late afternoon/early evening, weekend, and holiday hours based on department and patient care needs.

The Mobility Technician plays a vital role in enhancing patient recovery, safety, and overall hospital outcomes by supporting mobility initiatives across inpatient units. Working collaboratively with nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other members of the interdisciplinary team, the Mobility Technician assists patients with mobility activities that promote functional independence, reduce deconditioning, and support safe discharge planning.

• Assist patients with ambulation, transfers, repositioning, and mobility activities using proper body mechanics and safe patient handling techniques.
• Support individualized mobility plans established by the rehabilitation and nursing teams.
• Collaborate with physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, nurses, nursing assistants, and providers to promote patient mobility goals.
• Utilize appropriate mobility equipment, including gait belts, walkers, wheelchairs, mechanical lifts, and transfer devices.
• Document mobility interventions, patient participation, and functional progress in the electronic medical record.
• Monitor patients during mobility activities and promptly communicate any concerns, changes in status, or safety risks to the appropriate clinical team members.
• Reinforce patient and family education regarding safe mobility and mobility-related goals.
• Participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds, mobility huddles, and quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
• Assist with maintaining mobility equipment and ensuring equipment is readily available and functioning properly.
• Support hospital initiatives focused on reducing falls, preventing functional decline, enhancing patient outcomes, and improving patient throughput.

Required: 
1. High School Diploma/ GED

Preferred, not required: 

• BLS Certification
• Degree in or intentions to pursue coursework and/or certification classes in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Athletic Training, Health Sciences, EMT services, or a related field. 
• Previous healthcare experience serving patients in a hospital, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or outpatient setting. Willing to train for the right candidate. 
• Experience with patient mobility, safe patient handling equipment, or rehabilitation services. Willing to train for the right candidate.
