Our employees are not only part of history, they\u0027re making history.\n\nNorthrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a Modeling \u0026 Simulation Systems Engineer \u2013 Level 2 or 3 (Kinematic Mod/Sim Systems Engineer) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located on-site at Schriever Space Force Base, in Colorado Springs, CO.\n\nThis role requires employees to be onsite daily with no option for remote/hybrid work.\n\nPosition Overview:\n\nThe Threat Modeling Center (TMC) is responsible for the development and delivery of high-fidelity threat modeling products in support of Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and MDA\u2019s Missile Defense System. The TMC Kinematic Systems Engineer is responsible for working with a group of engineers that generates the kinematic output data of simulated missile trajectories for the TMC. This data is delivered as part of an Integrated Threat Product (ITP) to various Department of Defense customers (primarily within the MDA) to drive the Threat portion of their simulations. ITPs are produced and delivered anywhere between one day and six months, so flexibility, requirements identification, and time management skills will be used on a daily basis.\n\nThe Kinematic Systems Engineer will have a good understanding of each threat country\u2019s differing capabilities, preferred Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) and strategic objectives for any given scenario and be able to apply these capabilities to the specific scenario. The Kinematic Systems Engineer functions as the threat targeteer and from the adversary\u2019s perspective assigns a missile from that country\u2019s Order of Battle against specific targets, and then functions as the threat weaponeer, assigning a specific warhead to each missile used in the attack to achieve the scenario\u2019s training or engineering objective. \n\nThe Kinematic Systems Engineer processes results in an end-to-end threat attack laydown file that is modeled by the TMC, providing the kinematic output data of simulated missile trajectories. This is provided to US missile defense activities and select foreign countries for use in their simulations to analyze missile defense system performance and effectiveness. \n\nEssential Functions:\n\n * The Kinematic Systems Engineer will help review customer scenario requests and provide feedback on potential problems or issues before the production process begins.\n * The Kinematic Systems Engineer will review the final document and data to ensure the customer\u2019s objectives were met and the high-resolution data accurately reflects the specifications provided to the Threat Modeling Center.\n * This position is responsible for generating kinematic trajectories using the TMC\u2019s Threat Modeling \u0026 Simulation Suite (TMSS) and trouble-shooting products and data.\n * This group also works closely with the TMC\u2019s System Engineering and Software Development groups, as most of the tools used by the group are developed in-house. \n\n\n\nSeeking candidates who find satisfaction in working on challenging and diverse assignments in collaborative settings across all levels.\n\nThis requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.\n\nThis requisition may be filled at either a Modeling \u0026 Simulation Systems Engineer \u2013 Level 2 or a Principal Modeling \u0026 Simulation Systems Engineer \u2013 Level 3.\n\nBasic Qualifications (Modeling \u0026 Simulation Systems Engineer \u2013 Level 2): \n\n * Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline preferred with 2 years of relevant experience, or 0-2 years\u2019 experience with a Maters\u2019 Degree.\n * Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs.\n * Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.\n * Experience in modeling and simulation\n * Knowledge of missiles and six degrees of freedom (6 DoF) trajectory representation\n * Familiarity with missile defense system components and their interoperability\n * Understanding of Linux and Windows based platforms with their associated software\n * Ability to work independently and in groups and must be a self-starter\n * Excellent time management, schedule estimation\n * Excellent oral and written communication skills\n\n\n\nBasic Qualifications (Principal Modeling \u0026 Simulation Systems Engineer \u2013 Level 3): \n\n * Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline preferred with 5 years of relevant experience, or 3 years\u2019 experience with a Maters\u2019 of Science degree; or a PhD and 1 year of related experience.\n * Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs.\n * Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.\n * Experience in modeling and simulation.\n * Knowledge of missiles and six degrees of freedom (6 DoF) trajectory representation\n * Experience with missile defense system components and their interoperability\n * Experience in Linux and Windows based platforms with their associated software\n * Quality control experience with a strong background in test and troubleshooting\n * Excellent time management, schedule estimation, ability to lead projects and delegation skills\n\n\n\nPreferred Requirements:\n\n * Knowledge of missile targeting and allocation and \u201cRed Force\u201d laydowns\n * Experience with infrared and radar cross section (RCS) signatures\n * Experience in systems engineering and/or software development and testing, especially with Agile methodology\n * Experience working within the Missile Defense Agency, especially related to Ground Test exercises/events\n * A current DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility\n\n\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00\n\nSecondary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
