Job Description:

The Mohs Technician will perform essential histology procedures, including processing, embedding, cutting, and staining tissue specimens for evaluation and diagnosis by Pathologists. The technician will also assist the physician during Mohs surgery and ensure accurate preparation and processing of histologic specimens for microscopic evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process and inspect tissue specimens.
• Prepare specimens for processing, including weighing, cassette preparation, and updating block logs.
• Perform routine staining procedures and maintain slide staining equipment.
• Embed and cut tissue, placing it on slides for staining.
• Stain and cover slip slides for physician review.
• Set up cryostat, stainer, and necessary supplies for Mohs surgery.
• Follow specimen protocols and embed frozen surgical specimens within required timeframes.
• Properly dispose of tissue following protocol.
• Clean and maintain lab equipment, instruments, and machines.
• Maintain specimen documentation and records.
• Print grossing sheets and labels for slides.
• Monitor and document equipment, reagents, temperature logs, and other lab supplies.
• File surgical reports, photographs, and slides.
• Respond to inquiries from front office staff, medical assistants, physicians, or outside clinics.
• Train other staff on specific processes and procedures related to Mohs surgery.
• Ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance to fulfill job responsibilities.
• Perform additional duties as required or assigned.

Requirements
