Mold Setup Technician

Responsible for mold setups, startups, shutdowns, and process troubleshooting in the production of plastic returnable packaging products.

PRIMARY DUTIES. .

• Set up and removal of molds, prepare molds for production startup and perform insert change overs for production.
• Perform preventive mold maintenance as per instruction and assigned intervals.
• Inspect mold for defects and document part quality issues.
• Perform off-line bi-annual preventive mold maintenance and required mold services
• Assist with any in process troubleshooting and mold repairs.
• Do general housekeeping around the presses and maintain safe work environment.
• Maintain cleanliness, safety and functionality of mold components, tools and equipment.
• Maintain plastic injection molds and equipment is in optimal running condition.
• Work independent with strong technical knowledge and good communication skills.
• Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
• Read, use and interpret measuring devices, gauges and inspection tools.
• Position, set and secure mold into molding machine, connect or disconnect mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic connections.
• Following all Lock Out/Tag Out rules and work instructions.
• Keep own and adjacent work area clean.
• Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned.

Other qualifications

· Knowledge of CNC Machining

· Experience with Plastic Injection Molding

· Experience with Solid Works preferred

· Basic knowledge of the plastic processing and troubleshooting of thermoplastic molds.

· Basic math skills.

· Basic electrical skills

· Basic computer skills.

· Must be mechanically inclined and have the ability to use basic hand tools.

· Possess good hand-eye coordination with manual dexterity.

· Repair and perform all necessary preventive maintenance on plastic injection molds and molding related auxiliary equipment related to the mold setup.1

· Understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.

· Lock and tag out training completed

· SA forklift training completed.

Physical Requirements
This position requires to be able to access equipment to troubleshoot problems; requires continuous standing, climbing, and bending, kneeling, stooping, and crawling; lifting up to 50lbs; Ability to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or components.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work in seasonal temperatures and near moving mechanical parts and work in high, precarious places and where the sound and noise levels are loud and distracting. Employee is required to wear protective items such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
