Shelter House was established in 1981 as a grassroots response to the homelessness crisis in Fairfax County. Since then, we have grown and adapted to meet evolving community needs through partnerships with government agencies, private partners, and local residents.
Today, Shelter House is a reputable nonprofit with more than 100 employees committed to preventing and ending homelessness and domestic violence. In the last year, our team supported nearly 2,000 individuals, half of whom were children. Our culture is rooted in our Core Values: Inclusivity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Empowerment (iC.A.R.E.).
The Mondloch Place Case Manager supports a caseload of 20 efficiency style units in the Permanent Supportive Housing Program. Program participants often face complex challenges such as mental health diagnoses, substance use, developmental or physical disabilities, limited income, and chronic homelessness.
Using a Housing First model, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction, the Case Manager helps clients maintain housing stability, build self sufficiency, and progress toward independence.
