Job Summary:
Minimum of 2 years' experience.
We need actual Telemetry Monitor Techs to watch the Telemetry monitors, not EKG Technicians.
The Telemetry Monitor Technician is responsible for continuously monitoring cardiac rhythms of patients on telemetry, promptly identifying and reporting any changes or abnormalities to the appropriate healthcare team members. This role plays a critical part in ensuring patient safety and providing accurate data for clinical decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms on telemetry equipment.
- Recognize and report changes in cardiac rhythms, arrhythmias, and life-threatening patterns to nursing staff or physicians immediately.
- Document rhythm strips according to hospital policy and maintain accurate patient telemetry records.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations.
- Ensure telemetry equipment is functioning properly; report equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to communicate patient status updates.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Provide basic troubleshooting for telemetry equipment and assist with electrode placement if needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the unit and patient care.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Telemetry Monitoring or EKG Technician training program preferred.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Previous experience as a Monitor Tech or similar role preferred.
- Ability to recognize basic and advanced arrhythmias.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
