Mortgage Loan Officer

Scope

You are responsible for generating mortgage loans, enhancing relationships & building new referral relationships. The mortgage officer will be responsible for overall credit quality & fee income. Your contributions to the mortgage department help create an AMAZING client experience!

Accountabilities

Mortgage Loan Generator / New Business Development: 80%

• You are responsible for generating quality mortgage loans within the guidelines set by bank policy & growth targets. This will include soliciting new business relationships & deepening relationships with existing clients.
• You respond to inquiries from prospective customers regarding all types of mortgage & construction loans as well as provide requested information regarding the organization’s lending policies & procedures. 
• You conduct all steps needed to take a mortgage application, collect necessary documents from the client, submit & receive necessary approvals & provide clear notes to the processing team as per the procedure manual.
• You are responsible for partnering with other areas of the bank to help create the best relationships with the client.
• You are responsible for inputting data into origination software & underwriting automation. 
• You work with the processor & servicer to ensure we exceed customer expectations.
• You maintain lender social media account in cooperation with the head of Marketing.

Compliance: 10%

• You comply with federal, state, & local requirements & ensure all documents are compliant & timing requirements are met.
• You ensure that all mortgage loan disclosures sent out to the borrower are accurate.
• You work closely in helping to correct mortgage loan compliance deficiencies.
• You are a resource for bank employees relative to mortgage loans.
• You make recommendations to the supervisor regarding improving operations of the department/company.
• You assist in the completion of risk assessment reviews.
• You stay current on required training.

Other: 10%

• You are required to achieve referral results based on annual targets communicated by your supervisor.
• As a part of the overall team of bank employees, you may be requested to assist in the support of other bank activities.

While performing the duties of this job, you are regularly required to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, attend meetings, etc. You have the ability to operate a computer, carry, handle & feel objects; reach with hands & arms; communicate effectively & efficiently in person & over the phone. You must occasionally lift &/or move up to 25 pounds or more with assistance. You have the ability to travel to other locations as needed. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception & the ability to adjust focus.

Education, Experience & Skills

• You have a 4 year degree in business administration or equivalent related experience
• You have 3-5 years’ experience in a related field
• Underwriting experience is a plus!
• You have a thorough understanding of mortgage loan products & underwriting guidelines
• You have a thorough understanding of all federal, state, & local laws relating to mortgage processing
• Preferred, but not required, that you have experience with Encompass, Sparak, LaserPro, Desktop Underwriter & Loan Prospector 
• You have knowledge of commonly-used computer software programs such as the Microsoft Suite
• You have the ability to maintain confidential information
• You have skills needed in a typical office environment, including computer skills & utilization of office equipment
