JOB SUMMARY


The Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for soliciting, negotiating, and coordinating the closing of routine residential mortgage loans in compliance with the Bank's policies, procedures and related laws and regulations. Works closely with applicants to complete clients' financial information (e.g., Tax returns, credit reports, etc.) Help complete the mortgage loan application based on national and local financial standards and review their process. Work closely with clients and find the best mortgage loan that best fits their needs. Submit applications and reporting on progress as needed

WHAT ARE THE DUTIES OF THE MORTGAGE LOAN OFFICER?








  • Loan Origination & Closing: Solicit, negotiate, and coordinate the closing of routine residential mortgage loans while maintaining strict adherence to bank policies and credit guidelines.





  • Business Development & Networking: Build and leverage strong relationships with realtors, builders, title companies, and appraisers to source a consistent pipeline of new mortgage business.





  • Customer Consultation: Interview applicants to analyze financial needs, explain borrowing options (rates, terms, durations), and assist them smoothly through the initial application process.





  • Cross-Selling & Promotion: Market bank services to cross-sell deposit accounts, consumer loans, and other banking products to maximize the value of each customer relationship.





  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain flawless compliance with state and federal lending laws, privacy acts, and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) rules specific to mortgage operations.





  • Community Representation: Represent the bank at civic events and community reinvestment (CRA) functions to elevate the bank's local market presence and image.





  • Professional Accountability: Issue commitment or adverse action letters accurately, complete continuous compliance training, and handle customer inquiries with rapid, professional follow-through.










WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - candidates must have these to be considered for the role:



  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 3 or more years of lending experience.

  • Ability to perform the essential functions, mental, and physical demands of the job as listed above.

  • Current driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive while performing assigned duties and responsibilities.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - candidates will stand out if they have these:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.

  • Effective communication skills - speaking, listening (active), and written.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Intermediate knowledge of human resource labor laws and policies.

  • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; host computer system; word processing and spreadsheet software programs.

  • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.

  • Advanced problem-solving aptitude

  • Teamwork orientation and an interest/capacity in cultivating strong working relationships.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor with a customer focus.

  • Positive, "can do" attitude.
