Mortgage Loan Originator

The Mortgage Loan Originator is an essential member of the Mortgage team, making a meaningful impact on the lives of our customers and communities. The Mortgage Loan Originator is a sales oriented role that will develop profitable new business along with providing ongoing customer service to existing relationships. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Soliciting mortgage products to customers and prospective customers
• Packaging and closing residential mortgages to be sold on the secondary market or referred in-house
• Expanding account relationships by referring customers to other bank products and services

What will you be doing in this role?

• Gathering customer and potential customer information; analyzing customer needs; presenting suitable products; asking for the business and closing the sale.
• Developing market strategies that lead to secondary market loan origination including making business sales calls individually or accompanying a calling officer.
• Providing information relevant to the risks and benefits of each loan option for which the applicant qualifies to the applicant.
• Taking thorough and complete loan applications then analyzing and pre-qualifying applicant information to determine viability of a loan. This includes pulling and analyzing credit reports and comparing information for accuracy with mortgage borrower's statements, correcting inaccuracies, determining the correct loan options for the borrower.
• Serving as a liaison between the customer and bank products and services to ensure successful outcomes.

What will you need?

• High school diploma required, an undergraduate degree is a plus
• Two to five years of customer service and sales experience. Previous experience in mortgage preferred
•  Must qualify for registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System 
• Understanding of mortgage products and excitement to find and close sales opportunities
• Reputation for excellence in customer service and relationship development
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
• Well-organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
• Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours required
• Proficient in use of PC based products including Word, Excel and Outlook. Aptitude to quickly learn and use other software product applications as needed
