As a Mortgage Servicing Specialist I, you will:

  • Assist internal credit union staff with member requests, issues and inquiries.
  • Maintain consistent and professional communication with members and vendors to request additional documents or provide updates to open-ticket items.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Credit Union and the mortgage subserving vendor to address servicing needs, data discrepancies and member requests, inquiries and issues.
  • Demonstrates active participation in subservicer scheduled meetings.
  • Respond timely to member inquiries related to payments, escrow inquiries – taxes, insurance and analysis, payoff requests, statement copies, ACH setup, PMI and escrow removal requests and other member inquiries.
  • Monitor and review daily reports from the subservicer to ensure loan activity is accurate and aligns with credit union policy.
  • Track insurance expirations from the subservicer to alleviate possible lapses in coverage.
  • Assist with other subservicer activities and reporting.
  • Timely onboarding of new loans to the subservicer utilizing the loan origination system.
  • Prepare documents, coordinate and communicate with the Document Custodian.
  • Participate in ongoing training relating to mortgage servicing, mortgage industry standards, and other credit union objectives.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all credit union products and services.
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of Regulations X and Regulation Z, HPA, HMDA and CFPB rules, with the expectation to participate in ongoing training to stay relevant to industry updates.
  • Work interactively with other team members to promote unity and consistency of operations within the organization. Work with other team members towards the attainment of branch/department/organizational goals, in addition to their personal/professional goals.

Requirements

  • Requires education equivalent to a four-year high school education or general education degree (GED). Some post-secondary education preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year real estate lending processing and/or origination experience required, preferably in a credit union or other financial institution.   
  • Professional well developed interpersonal skills essential for servicing credit union members and projecting a positive image as representative for the credit union. Approaches others in a tactful manner, reacts well under pressure, accepts responsibility for own actions, and follows through on commitments.  
  • Work requires basic knowledge of loan policy and procedures, credit reporting, interest rates and how they are computed, and loan products and services.
  • Requires sound judgment to handle situations that fall outside clearly defined guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Technologically Astute – Must demonstrate the ability to use technology to effectively and efficiently perform job functions. Knowledge of PC applications including Word and Excel required. Experience with automated core banking system preferred. 
  • Intermediate mathematical skills required (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.)

Salary Description

$20.00-$22.00/hour
