Job Description - Motor Hand

Summary of Responsibilities

As part of drill crew, a motor hand operates, maintains, repairs, and diagnoses the motors that run various pieces of equipment on a surface rig.  Motormen normally work 12-hour shifts. Schedules will consist of fourteen days on and fourteen days off; working both days and nights. Motormen are expected to represent his/herself and Noble Drilling in a good manner.  Motormen should always follow the correct chain of command and report all safety problems or violations immediately. 

Primary Responsibilities (Not listed in relation to their priority)

1. Keep equipment full of fuel and oils and inspected daily 

2. Keep track of hour on equipment

3. Keep filters, oil and lubes organized and tracked

4. Change oil when needed; mark date and hours on filters; dispose of oil properly

5. Put fuel levels on report daily

6. Keep Gen House, Tool end of Pump house and welding trailer clean and organized

7. Keep track of hydraulic hose and fitting for crimper

8. Keep loaders always greased

9. Help derrick hand keep all 3-sided tanks empty and mixed with pellets or ash

10. Ensure all trucks on location are loaded or unloaded in a timely manner

Requirements

  

Experience Requirements

· Minimum of 0.5 -1 years related experience. 

· Must successfully complete Noble Drilling’s industry specific training and orientation

Education Requirements

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Special Requirements

· 18 years or older

· Valid Driver’s License

· Average Shift: 12-hour workdays 

· Rotation: fourteen days on fourteen days off

Travel Requirements

Travel to rig location before tower begins.

Language Skills   

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to 

write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small 

group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. 

Mathematical Skills   

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability 

to perform these operations using units of American money and weigh measurement, volume, and

distance. 

Reasoning Ability   

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
