REPORTING:

Reports to the Drilling Superintendent

SUPERVISION:

None

PRE-REQUISITE/QUALIFICATION:

• Bachelor's (master’s preferred) degree in petroleum engineering or similar.
• Successful Military Discharge – Preferred for U.S.
• Graduate of University where knowledge and training acquired are applicable to job requirements – Preferred.
• Valid Well Control certificate per the standard defined on the training matrix.
• Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates.
• 5+ years of Offshore MPD experience
• Expert knowledge of hydraulic modelling software and MPD control systems.

OPERATIONAL DISCIPLINE REQUIREMENTS:

• Disciplined application and participation in the Task Planning & Risk Assessment Process.
• This is inclusive of:
• Understanding and perform the roles and responsibilities as assigned at the pre-job meeting.
• Understanding the hazards associated with the task.
• Understanding and effectively implementing the control measures required to mitigate identified hazards.
• Execute all tasks and task steps in a disciplined manner, following the sequence detailed in the relevant procedures.
• Recognize at risk behavior or conditions during tasks and call ‘Time out for Safety’ when unsure, or when the job does not go as planned.
• Participate in After Action Reviews to feedback lessons learned from performing the task.

HSE REQUIREMENTS:

• Demonstrate commitment and leadership in the protection of personnel, the environment, and assets.
• Coach personnel in the understanding of applicable Company OI & HSE requirements.
• Ensure work is executed in accordance with Company OI & HSE requirements.
• Call a Time Out when a real or perceived at risk behavior or unsafe condition is observed.
• Coach personnel to use WorkSight ENGAGE during the execution of planned work.
• Use WorkSight COACH during the execution of planned work and daily operations to reinforce Company requirements.
• Report all incidents, potential hazards, or abnormal situations.   Ensure reported situations are acknowledged properly.
• Ensure the Control of Work process is complied with when planning and managing the execution of work.
• Ensure major accident barriers / controls are maintained.
• Ensure safe and organized work areas are maintained.
• Understand your role in an emergency, as designated in the Emergency Response Plan and Station Bill.
• Lead or participate in all emergency drills and exercises, as required.
• Ensure change is properly controlled and managed.

DUTIES:

The underlying expectation is that all duties are carried out in compliance with the Company Operational Discipline expectations and HSE requirements.

GENERAL DUTIES:

Operational/Maintenance:

• This position will require expert knowledge of MPD systems fitted onboard Transocean vessels. This position will also require very strong inter-personal, analytical and technical skills as well as very strong time-management skills – proven ability to work on multiple projects while addressing ad-hoc top priority incident investigation in a fast-paced environment is essential.
• Must have solid knowledge of MPD software systems.
• Will be responsible for MPD hydraulic modelling, procedure review and optimization, FEED, client NTP submissions.
• Will be available to travel on an ‘as needed basis’ to vendor facilites or shipyards to assist with MPD operations and FEED.
• Will participate and provide technical assistance in HAZAN workshops (HazOp, HazID, FMEA etc.).
• Train and mentor drilling department on all MPD operations.
• A good understanding of all regulatory documentation such as API 16RCD, API 92S etc.
• Identify any potential operational issues and report using the correct processes.
• Complete AAR of every MPD well. Submit to MPD manager.
• Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
• Liaise with equipment OEMs to ensure latest policies and procedures are adhered to.​
