Job Description - MRI Technologist: M-F,12PM-9PM

Description

JOB OVERVIEW:

The MRI Technologist operates MRI equipment to obtain diagnostic images used by physicians for patient diagnosis and treatment, in accordance with Radiologist instructions and established procedures. This position is designated for the 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM evening shift.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Operates a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain diagnostic images.
  • Selects appropriate imaging techniques and operates console and peripheral hardware
  • Positions patients, administers contrast media, and ensures high-quality imaging.
  • Explains procedures to patients, addresses questions, and fosters a calming environment.
  • Confirms patient identification and screens patients prior to entering the scan room.
  • Adheres to MRI Safety Plan and reviews it annually.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment per OEM specifications.
  • Obtains continuing education credits as required by licensure.
  • Complies with OSHA Guidelines, HIPAA, and Corporate Compliance policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
     

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: 

EDUCATION and LICENSURE:

Formal education and training in the field of MRI. MRI certification required from ARRT or ARMRIT. Active free and clear State of Florida Radiologic Technologist license 

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 1 year of experience preferred. 

SKILLS:

· Communicate clearly and professional with all patients, physicians, and staff.

· Knowledge of anatomy and physiology

· Follow instructions and protocols

· Multi-task while being efficient

· Provide quality images

  • Specific vision requirements include the ability to see at close range, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Possess the ability to fulfill any office activities normally expected in a direct patient care role in a medical office setting.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel, and reach with hand and arms.
  • Physical strength and agility to position patients for a variety of diagnostic examinations.
  • Occasionally lift/move/push/pull 50 pounds.
  • Employee should use his/her best judgment in assisting patients and should seek assistance if moving or lifting a patient would exceed the 50 pound limit required for this position. 
  • Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding).
  • Travel may be required to existing or new TOI locations.
