MRO Buyer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•  Source and procure MRO material.


• Maintain close coordination with Suppliers, Production Planning, Maintenance Warehouse, and Safety, to ensure that adequate quantities of materials are available to meet the production schedule while maintaining the lowest possible cost and inventories.


• Keep abreast of all price changes, market conditions, availability and lead times of materials that affect prices and provide useful information for short term and long-term forecasting.

• Respond to vendor inquiries about clarifying orders, changes in requests, delivery requirements and cancellations.


• Work with SMI Contractor to procure high usage/critical parts.


• Keep in contact with vendors to ensure delivery schedules are being met and to prevent missed deliveries.


• Resolve problems with vendors to expedite deliveries and to prevent stock outs.


• Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files.  Prioritizes work to be completed.

• Perform work in a fast-paced environment and maintain production requirements.


• Maintain knowledge, understanding and adherence to safety-to-safety policies, USDA, GMP’s, QA, HACCP, Sanitation rules and regulations, and company policies.


• Regular and dependable attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.

• All other duties, as assigned.
