• Investigates reported major unusual incidents (MUI)
• Completes MUI investigation reports
• Develops MUI recommendations and follows up to ensure completion
• Reviews completed MUI packets to ensure quality
• Reviews monthly MUI and UI facility logs for completion and checks for trends and patterns
• Conducts or assists in training programs, meetings
• Acts as liaison between the Cuyahoga Board of Developmental Disabilities MUI department and home management
• Completes documentation as required within specified periods and provides notification to inter- and intra-agency individuals as required and necessary
• Participates in self-improvement/personal growth opportunities such as in-services, seminars, and as a committee member
• Required to maintain personnel needs and other in-service training
• Completes DODD’s MUI investigative agent training within one year of hire
• B.A. or B.S. required, preferably in Education, Psychology, or Social Work
• One year’s experience in working with intellectually disabled persons in a residential facility, school, or supported living
• Two years’ experience in a management or clinical position in the field of DD, preferred
• Experience/Involvement in investigating MUI’s preferred
• Valid Ohio driver’s license
• Ability to become a company driver and a certified med passer
• Knowledge and ability to resolve complaints from parents, citizens, and government officials
• Knowledge of appropriate developmental treatment programs
• Knowledge of the rights of the individuals
• The ability to promote human dignity and protect the constitutional rights of the residents
• Knowledge of behavioral techniques and interventions
• Competent in the use of a computer and computer software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe
• Ability to analyze information and write comprehensive reports
• Responsible, honest, trustworthy, and objective
• Knowledge of Medicaid, Licensure, and Waiver Rules
• Knowledge and ability to communicate effectively with all team members
• Ability to communicate with intellectually disabled people
• Must be able to work flexible hours and days
• Must travel to review scenes and interview people at locations throughout Northeast Ohio
• Ability to read and write in English
• Physically capable of sitting, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, pushing and pulling, transferring and transporting, fine hand coordination
• Ability to distinguish smells, tastes, temperatures
• Ability to hear and respond to all modes of communication
• Ability to perform mathematical functions and evaluate and interpret mathematical information
• Ability to handle confrontation professionally
• Ability to make independent decisions
• Ability to remain calm under stress
