Job Description - Multi Family Commercial Real Estate Analyst


Position Summary: 

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Multi-Family Commercial Real Estate Analyst to support our multi-family lending division. This role is central to our decision-making process, with an emphasis on multi-family commercial research, data collection and presentation, and underwriting. You will be responsible for analyzing potential deals, preparing loan credit memos, and collaborating with appraisers and underwriters to assess the feasibility and risk of investment opportunities. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Market Research & Data Collection: 

Collect and analyze real estate market data, economic indicators, and asset-specific metrics. 

Stay up-to-date on multi-family commercial real estate trends, zoning changes, and market comps. 

Maintain and update internal databases on sales, lease comps, cap rates, and market rents. 

Underwriting & Financial Analysis: 

Build and audit financial models including cash flow projections, debt service coverage, and ROI metrics. 

Conduct rent roll analysis, lease abstracting, and borrower credit assessments. 

Work along side our multi-family commercial real estate Underwriter in keeping loan requests in compliance with HouseMax’s risk parameters and underwriting guidelines. 

Appraisal Review: 

Review third-party commercial appraisals for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to valuation standards. 

Provide internal valuation estimates and collaborate with valuation partners as needed. 

Presentation & Reporting: 

Prepare concise, data-driven investment commercial loan memos and internal presentations for credit committee review. 

Present findings to leadership and assist in drafting loan summaries and borrower presentations. 

Cross-Department Collaboration: 

Work closely with loan officers, underwriters, and asset management to drive efficient deal flow. 

Coordinate with external vendors including brokers, appraisers, and property inspectors. 


Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or a related field.

5+_ years of experience in multi-family commercial real estate finance, underwriting, appraisal, or market research. 

Strong understanding of multi-family commercial asset types (retail, industrial, office, multifamily, etc.).

Experience with ADU projects a plus. 

Proficiency in Excel, and data visualization tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Tableau). 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
