Job Description - Multi-Family/Residential Electrical Helper

JOB SUMMARY:


The position of Electrical Helper Level 1 is an entry-level position is ideal for candidates with less than one year or no prior experience in the electrical field. You will assist licensed electricians in various tasks and develop foundational skills in electrical work.


 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in skilled labor duties related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems and equipment including but not limited to:



  • Handle hand tools and power tools for basic electrical tasks.

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including job sites and tool inventory.

  • Learn and apply basic electrical concepts under the guidance of experienced electricians.

  • Perform basic electrical & low voltage system duties as assigned.

  • Perform trenching and excavating duties.

  • Install underground conduit as needed.

  • Saw, drill, and cut as needed

  • Perform all cleanup tasks as assigned.

  • Assist in pulling wires or roughing in electrical and low voltage system work.

  • Receive and deliver material to employees under supervision.

  • Install devices, trim, and lamp fixtures as needed.

  • Rough in and Trim out.

  • Follow established safety standards at all times.

  • Read blueprints and apply knowledge when necessary.

  • Move and install heavy equipment as assigned.

  • Obtain the minimum tools required based on classification and ensure tools required are accessible for the tasks performed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Knowledge of basic mathematical operations and calculations (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, order of operations).

  • Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in the English language at a 12th-grade level.


 


PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Bilingual

  • Currently attending or ability to enroll in an accredited Electrical Apprenticeship Program

  • High School Diploma or GED

WORK ENVIRONMENT:



  • This job operates in a construction job site environment and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions or inside conditions.

  • While performing this job's duties, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee may be occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. 

  • Often exposed to loud sounds and noise levels as well as very bright or inadequate lighting conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

  • Regular exposure to dirt, hazardous equipment, wiring, and underground and/or elevated heights.


 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day.

  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.

  • Ability to wear company-approved Personal Protective Equipment per local, state, federal, or OSHA regulations.

  • The employee must frequently lift and move items over 50 pounds.

  • Requires the ability to perform physical duties listed above for extended periods.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


 


SCHEDULE AND REQUIRED TRAVEL:



  • Requires the ability to report to job sites throughout Florida; locations vary depending on the individual's home location.

  • May be requested to work overtime, nights, and weekends.
