Job Description - Multilingual Family Support Specialist

The family support specialist assists families of all cultures, socio-economic backgrounds, and languages in smoothly obtaining and maintaining childcare financial assistance. The family support specialist provides case management and related services and serves as a community resources liaison to families in need. 

The hours for this role would be between 8am - 5:30pm, Monday - Friday, and potentially some weekend events during the year.

What We’re Looking For:

· Exceptional customer service skills - friendly, positive, non-judgmental, prompt, reliable and professional. 

· Communicate effectively in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Cape Verdean Creole, including translation of documents as needed.

· Demonstrate organizational and time-management skills 

· Capable of multitasking and working independently

· Show attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and logical, critical thinking

· Strong math and communication skills 

· Uphold strict confidentiality and integrity

· Adaptable to learning new technologies

What You’ll Do:

· Offer emotional and practical support to families, including creating support plans for families 

· Meet with families to determine eligibility for assistance 

· Communicate with families verbally and in writing in English, Spanish, Portuguese and/or Cape Verdean Creole

· Translate materials 

· Maintain open communication with colleagues 

· Coordinate with local community resource agencies to support families.

· Occasional travel to off-site programs (Fairhaven, Mattapoisett, Wareham and Acushnet) 

· Maintain accurate eligibility documentation, collect data and report on service delivery

· Adheres to all state regulations and policies

· Any other duty as may be assigned

A degree in social work, family studies or related human service degree preferred.
