Job Description - Multimedia sales representative

Piedmont Media, a nonprofit news organization in Northern Virginia, is seeking a talented and competitive inside multimedia advertising sales representative with the potential for growth into outside sales.

Located less than an hour from Washington, D.C., Piedmont Media operates two print newspapers and digital news sites serving Fauquier and Prince William counties. The organization has consistently produced award-winning journalism and is financially stable with strong philanthropic support.

We hope to transform our advertising sales to be digital first and this role provides an opportunity to work with our team and our customers to invent new sales products that better connect our audience with products and services that fit their needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in this effort.

Responsibilities include:

Sourcing new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up, outbound cold calls, and emails.

Understanding customer needs and requirements to effectively position our properties products and services.

Routing qualified opportunities to appropriate executives for further development and assist in closure.

Closing sales and achieve sales goals.

Maintaining and extend the database of prospects.

Collaborating with channel partners to build pipeline and close deals.

The right candidate will:

Have strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey the value proposition of advertising solutions to our clients.

Be persuasive and able to guide our customers toward mutually beneficial solutions.

Be resilient, accepting disappointments while staying motivated.

Be confident, instilling trust in clients by fluently explaining our products or services and closing deals successfully.

Listen effectively to clients’ needs.

Adapt quickly to changes to technology and in the marketing landscape.

Show empathy for the client’s perspective and respond to their challenges.

Be creative in crafting compelling advertising campaigns that resonate with clients and our audience.

Maintain honesty and integrity in all interactions to build trust and credibility to foster long-term relationships with clients.

Manage their time well by prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.

Be a good teammate and supportive colleague who values others.

Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferably have experience with working with CRM

Preferably have experience in digital media, including proficiency with social media channels.

About the role:

Salary. This is full-time position and pay will depend on experience. The ideal candidate would have 1 to 5 years of sales experience. The target salary range for this role is $40,000 to $55,000 per year, plus commission.
