The Physician Assistant (PA) provides comprehensive medical care under the supervision of a licensed physician in a variety of clinical and hospital-based specialties. This role includes evaluating patients, performing examinations, developing and implementing treatment plans, coordinating care across disciplines, and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in outpatient, inpatient, surgical, urgent care, and critical care settings.
• Maintain a professional image and demonstrate excellent patient, visitor, and staff relations
• Assess patient needs through history, observation, physical examination, and diagnostic review
• Record findings, formulate assessments, plans, and prognoses based on patient condition
• Plan, implement, and coordinate care to meet age-specific and holistic patient needs
• Perform physical examinations and preventative health measures within physician guidelines
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive care plans
• Foster an environment of compassion, professionalism, integrity, and respect for patients and families
• Practice evidence-based medicine and adhere to internal quality improvement initiatives
• Minimize unnecessary testing while maintaining high-value patient care
• Participate in professional development and required continuing education
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, teamwork, and leadership within the healthcare environment
• Outpatient clinic, inpatient hospital, ICU, surgical, and urgent care settings
• Hospitalist schedule may include 7-on/7-off with rotating call responsibilities
• Clinic-based specialties typically follow weekday business hours
• Collaborative, multidisciplinary team models
• Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program
• New graduates are encouraged to apply for select departments (e.g., Cardiology, Vascular, General Surgery, Pain Management, Neurosurgery, and select critical care roles)
• Minimum of two years of experience required for Urgent Care, Hospitalist, and select specialty roles
• Five or more years of experience required for advanced orthopedic spine roles
• Active State of South Carolina Physician Assistant license verified by NCCPA
• Prescriptive authority or eligibility to obtain
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required for Hospitalist, Critical Care, and Vascular roles
