Job Description - Museum Education Assistant


Hours: Full time, 40 hours p/w, hourly, non-exempt 

Reports to: K-12 Education Manager

salary: $40,000 - $45,000

Job Summary:
The Museum Education Coordinator provides administrative and logistical support for all K–12 education programs, including field trips, camps, and special events. This position works closely with education staff, teachers, and vendors to ensure efficient scheduling, accurate data collection, and smooth day-of program execution. The Coordinator also maintains program materials, manages communications, and supports K-12 outreach and access.

This is a detail-oriented, highly collaborative position ideal for someone looking to grow in the museum education field.

Essential Job Functions:

Program Coordination and Implementation

· Coordinate and schedule field trips and education program registrations, including confirmations and communications with educators.

· Assist with planning, setup, and facilitation of field trips and other student programs (e.g., summer camps, STEAM Family Fest).

· Collaborate with the K–12 Education Manager and Museum Educators to assure proper staffing for all field trips.

· Track program expenditures and process related payments.

· Determine supply needs and organize inventory for education programs.

· Collect, organize, and input education program data.

· Provide general administrative and logistical support to the Learning Department.

· Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental and museum-wide goals.


Requirements

  

Qualifications & Skills

· Bachelor’s degree in Education, Art History, Public History, Museum Studies, or related field required.

· Minimum 1 year of experience in informal or formal education.

· Understanding of CCSD and Nevada Academic Content Standards preferred.

· Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to adapt to varied audiences.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with booking/event systems (e.g., Tessitura, Tripleseat) a plus.

· Interest in art, history, architecture, preservation, and/or neon signs.

· Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

· Must pass a background check.

· Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required.

Work Context & Physical Requirements

· Requires regular, punctual attendance and schedule flexibility (some evenings/weekends).

· Requires the ability to focus in a dynamic environment and respond calmly to unplanned situations.

· Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds.

· Requires working indoors in controlled conditions and outdoors in desert temperatures.
