Job Description - Music Teacher (K-6)

MUSIC TEACHER (K-6)FULL TIMEMultiple Positions AvailableFY 2025-2026Cherokee County, GA

Cherokee Classical Academy seeks Music Teachers for grade levels Kindergarten through 6th grade. Teachers are responsible for the education of their students. They are expected to demonstrate high moral character and have mastery of the subjects they teach. Teachers will work collaboratively to create a working and learning environment for all students that is safe, secure, and respectful. This position would report to the Lower School Dean of Academics on Cherokee Classical Academy’s Cherokee County campus. This position starts July 2025. Please specify your grade level preference in your application.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Developing and implementing  course, unit, and lesson plans based on the Hillsdale K-12 classical curriculum’s scope and sequence Knowledge of the art curriculum found in the Hillsdale K-12 Core Knowledge sequence
  • Adhere to the school’s mission and the principles of classical education
  • Plan and execute lessons for music classes , guiding students to acquire skills in music and to enjoy, appreciate, and interpret music in their daily lives
  • Encourage and promote the coordination of music with other subject areas in the curriculum
  • Evaluate student performance in music, maintain grade books in Infinite Campus, and communicate proactively with parents
  • Assisting in planning, preparing, and presenting programs, field trips, and festivals for the school
  • Assist the Head of School in inventorying, organizing, ordering, and caring for music materials and equipment
  • Assist in planning, preparing, and presenting programs and festivals for the school

Qualified candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field from a fully accredited college is required.
  • Valid teaching certification in Georgia is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience in classical education is preferred but not required.
  • Candidates should possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

About Cherokee Classical Academy:

Cherokee Classical Academy (CCA) is a tuition-free public charter school set to launch in Cherokee County, GA. It will open for grades K-6 in the 2025-2026 school year and will continue to add a grade each year until reaching a full K-12 configuration. Families who reside in the counties of Cherokee, Cobb, Bartow, Fulton, Pickens, Paulding, and the cities of Marietta, Cartersville, and Atlanta are eligible to apply for enrollment.
