The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check as well as other investigative reviews.  Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position, unless restricted under state or federal law or federal restrictions.  An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.

The final applicant for this position will be required to submit urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to an appointment. The State will decline to extend a final offer of employment to any applicant with a verified positive test result. Also, an applicant with a positive test result will not be considered for any position with the State of Ohio for a period of one year.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Coordinates the administration of NAEP in Ohio:

• Facilitates communication of NAEP procedures and information to state policy makers, division and school staff, parents, and the general public
• Provides technical assistance to the state and local education agencies and other target audiences as it relates to NAEP
• Interprets and applies state and NAEP policies related to assessment, individual data collection and security
• Supports digitally based and paper assessment administration
• Ensures appropriate state participation in pilots, special studies and all NAEP activities
• Develops work plans, budgets, quarterly status reports and final project reports
• Attends professional development and trainings convened by NCES in support of NAEP
• Coordinates the analysis and interpretation of NAEP data and prepares special reports
• Disseminates NAEP state, national and Trial Urban District Assessment (TUDA) results
• Presents complex and technical information to various audiences
• Works with NCES to coordinate the release of state and national results
• Participates in a network of NAEP State Coordinators representing all states in the country
• Actively participates in numerous required meetings, webinars and workshops
• Reviews assessment items, processes, and data releases
• Collaborates with other offices within DEW (e.g., Office of Accountability, Office of Communications) regarding national assessments and performance data
• Promotes NAEP assessment literacy
• Responds to assessment program inquiries and interprets procedures and guidelines
• Updates NAEP information on DEW’s website and ensures current assessment information is available through a variety of sources (e.g., email, newsletters, webinars, web conferencing, social media)
• Provides support for state participation in international assessments as needed
• Works collaboratively with state assessment staff to support the implementation of Ohio’s state testing programs

Works alongside Office of Research (dotted line to administrator) to interpret and use NAEP data to inform policy

• Works with Research team to develop a NAEP research agenda
• Conducts analyses and creates reports on NAEP data and research questions
• Presents findings to DEW staff and appropriate stakeholders

A. 6 years experience in a specific or related content area, educational program or service; current valid driver’s license or ability to secure transportation when travel is required.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in a specific or related content area, educational program or service; 4 years experience in a specific or related content area, educational program or service; current valid driver’s license or ability to secure transportation when travel is required.

-Or completion of graduate core program in a specific or related content area, educational program or service; 3 years experience in a specific or related content area, educational program or service; current valid driver’s license or ability to secure transportation when travel is required. In identified programs\: Master’s degree and 3 years of education experience in a specific or related content area, educational program or service; current valid driver’s license or ability to secure transportation when travel is required.
