Compensation:



  • Base salary ranges from $80, 000 - $110,000 annually

  • Pay is based on job-related experience

  • This position is eligible for department specific commission program. 


Schedule: 



  • Monday – Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm

  • This position is subject to varying hours


Location:



  • This position is hybrid and part time in the St. Michael location if candidate lives within 75 miles. 

  • Remote options available.


Essential Functions:



  • Expedite solicitation of business through cold calling, phone prospecting, and networking.  Compose freight rates for specific points the customer is interested in.  Establish new customers, growth in the business, and continually look for revenue opportunities. 

  • Negotiate rates to customers needing transportation or other 3PL services.  Work with internal resources to prepare all information needed for quoting in a timely manner.  Manage daily load activities through discussion with customers and carriers to ensure superior customer service.

  • Mange claims O S & D and customer payment.  Questions can include order, invoice, and miss ship inquiries. Handle incoming calls for all customers that may call in.  Be a valuable resource for problem resolution, load tracking, and collection activities.

  • Serve as the backup to other positions within the department as necessary.  Assist in the order entry process, when necessary, if CSR is unavailable.

  • Additional responsibilities include proactively monitoring defined regional and national freight rates for internal and external customers, procurement, acceptance, and rating of customer shipments. Discuss opportunities and daily plan of action with dispatch managers and customer service. 


Required Skills and Qualifications:




  • 1–3 years in transportation, logistics, brokerage, or 3PL.



  • 3–5+ years with proven book‑of‑business growth and margin management.


  • Outbound sales skills - cold calling, phone/email prospecting, qualifying leads, building and maintaining a pipeline.

  • Negotiation skills - effectively work with customers to secure capacity at targeted margins.


  • Daily planning - align with logistics specialists and CSR on priorities, risks, and coverage.


  • Ownership bias: Takes accountability for loads, claims, and customer experience.

  • Resilience: Comfortable with rejection in outreach; keeps a positive, professional tone.

  • Urgency & prioritization: Thrives in fast‑moving, high‑volume environments.

  • Communication: Clear written and verbal updates; de‑escalation skills.

  • Ethics & compliance: Transparent pricing and fair dealing with customers and carriers.


Physical and Environmental Factors:



  • Safety Awareness - Follow all safety laws, policies, and procedures. Immediately report safety concerns to supervisor.  Attend, and successfully complete, when applicable, all required safety training.

  • Quality Awareness - Comply with the requirements of the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), and Food Safety and Quality Food Programs (SQF).
