Job Description - National Accounts and Data Center Application Engineer
In this position you will; Lead technical proposal and bid package development; provide power distribution application support for assigned strategic and data center accounts. Serve as a trusted advisor to sales (NAS and EESS), channel partners, reps/agencies, end users, subject matter experts, and District Operating Center teams for developing technical and commercial proposals across strategic accounts and data center segments. Respond to requests from North American sales, channel partners and reps for data center new construction and aftermarket activities. Respond to requests from north American sales, channel partners and reps across industrial, commercial, and utility segments for large national accounts. Support division initiatives such as Service Attachment Orders for New Equipment, power system engineering, digital integration solutions, aftermarket solutions, extended warranty programs, and electrical worker training. Engage local resources to assist with proposal development and create standard pricing, quotation tools and processes to provide best-in-class service to our customers and improve proposal efficiency. Offer detailed project specification analysis, lead pricing development, provide construction estimating / subcontractor scope of work and engage third party vendors. Provide unique solutions beyond standard specifications to provide greater customer value and incorporate lessons learned to improve solution and pricing strategies Lead and support hand-off project activities; captures additional scope items beyond original specifications. Contribute to the digital development and standardization of pricing models, quotation tools, and processes to improve proposal efficiency and customer service. Conduct and lead customer presentations through joint visits with sales channels; educate and promote the engineering services product and solution portfolio. Track and report monthly proposal activities. Participate in professional development opportunities and industry organizations. Mentor junior team members while also seeking learning opportunities from peers. Deliver exceptional customer service to all stakeholders; committing extra time as needed to meet customer and project deadlines. Travel up to 10% to support regional and national initiatives Submit to periodic customer required background and drug screenings. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution OR a minimum of 7 years of hands on field service and/or proposal generation experience specific to services within the electrical industry, combined with a high school diploma In lieu of a degree Minimum 5 years of hands on field service and/or proposal generation experience specific to services within the electrical industry Possess and maintain an active and valid drivers license Candidate must reside within the United States to be considered Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution. Three or more years of progressive experience in one or more of the following areas: application engineering, proposal development, technical marketing, engineering, sales, strategic planning, operations, or product management. Estimating experience in substation and electrical system installations. Demonstrated experience preparing complex engineering services proposals, including solution development, pricing strategy, labor pricing and the use of digital tools for configuration and pricing of products and services. Knowledge of Data Center Construction Demonstrated depth of knowledge in products, systems, and service solutions within the electrical services and power distribution industry. Working knowledge of the end to end sales process, including customer channels to market and negotiation techniques, with the ability to coordinate division, customer, and functional resources to maximize growth opportunities. Professional Engineering (PE) license. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships, address concerns effectively, and resolve issues to support long term customer satisfaction. Experience in writing and reviewing subcontractor work scopes and Subcontractor agreements; being able to evaluate proposals for specification compliance. Experience with risk evaluation and risk management. NETA Associate Member POSITION CRITERIA: Describe the hiring criteria you will utilize when evaluating the potential candidates. The candidate must possess the following skills and knowledge to successfully perform in this function: Power distribution experience in servicing, maintaining, and testing electrical power distribution equipment. Working knowledge of labor required for troubleshooting, tests and repair techniques. Working knowledge of pricing and proposal generation in the electrical industry. Demonstrated ability in verbal and written communication skills. Particular skill in communicating technical information to non-technical personnel, educating customers, and presenting information to internal and external customers. Advanced understanding of the competitor's electrical, electronic and mechanical products and services. Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to working with electrical and electronic equipment. Has demonstrated ability to provide service and represent company interests in developing customer relationships to assure long-term customer satisfaction.
