Job Title: Intern Associate

Department: Commercial Lending

Job Location: Rahway, New Jersey

Job Status: Full Time

Job Summary:

The internship position will grant exposure to various aspects of the Commercial Lending Department. The intern will have the opportunity to participate in various training offerings related to the role, networking lunches, executive one-on-one sessions, and be assigned a mentor/buddy during the program.

Responsibilities:

  1. Preparation of a formal credit risk analysis and supporting financial spreadsheets for commercial real estate transactions, business loans, and construction projects.
  2. Independent evaluation and review of all pertinent credit and financial information, including audited, reviewed, compiled and management-prepared financial statements, tax returns, credit bureau reports, vendor and bank inquires.
  3. Perform independent due diligence as necessary to appropriately vet all prospective individual and corporate entities.
  4. Determine loan feasibility by analyzing the financial condition, operating performance, and repayment ability of borrowers utilizing financial statements, collateral documentation, borrower interviews, and industry and economic data.
  5. Approve loans within established limits or refer loans to Loan Committee for review and approval.
  6. Travel to business owner properties/locations for meetings.
  7. Perform walk-through inspections of commercial buildings and construction areas.
  8. Process commercial loans for approval through closing by entering data into EZ Lender system upon receipt of Term Sheet and good faith deposit.
  9. Partner with Loan Officers by tracking information/documentation received and informing them of unresolved items needed to complete the process.
  10. Attend Bi-Weekly team meetings.
  11. Be assigned specific project to work on.
  12. Maintain confidentiality of customer information at all times.
  13. Compliance with all relevant Bank policies and procedures.

OTHER: May require occasional travel for business meetings or training.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Ability to multi-task

Preferred

  • Operating knowledge of FISERV, credit
  • Previous loan experience
  • Familiarity of accounting and financial terms
  • Proficiency in using web based search engines
