ABOUT THE ROLE
The Nemeth Code Braille Transcriber produces accessible math, science, and literary textbooks and instructional materials for students who are blind or visually impaired. Working within the Alabama Instructional Resource Center for the Blind (AIRCB) at the Alabama School for the Blind (ASB), this position executes transcription, data entry, tactile graphics production, proofreading, and physical binding of specialized media. The Transcriber utilizes advanced braille translation software, downloads national source files (NIMAS/NIMAC), maintains media production equipment, and fulfills braille requests for in-state and out-of-state educational needs.
