Job Description - Neonatal ICU Registered Nurse - Fairbanks - Espirita US Nurses


Espirita is pleased to present an exceptional career opportunity for a qualified and dedicated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse to join the clinical team at a nationally recognized, non-profit community hospital located in the heart of Alaska.


This 152-bed facility is a designated Level 4 trauma center, renowned for its excellence in both adult and pediatric trauma care.

As a NICU Registered Nurse, you will provide specialized care to critically ill neonates in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. This role requires advanced clinical skills, sound judgment, and a compassionate approach to care. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes for neonatal patients and their families.


Key Responsibilities




  • Patient Assessment & Monitoring Conduct comprehensive evaluations of neonatal patients, monitor vital signs, and promptly report any changes in condition.




  • Medication & Treatment Administration Administer prescribed medications and therapies with precision, ensuring safety and efficacy.




  • Respiratory & Emergency Support Manage ventilator settings, oxygen therapy, and perform neonatal resuscitation and emergency interventions as needed.




  • Procedural & Surgical Support Assist in neonatal procedures and surgeries, providing pre-, intra-, and post-operative care.




  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration Partner with neonatologists, pediatricians, and allied health professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.




  • Family Education & Support Provide clear communication, emotional support, and education to families regarding their infant’s condition and care requirements.




  • Documentation & Communication Maintain accurate and timely patient records to support continuity of care and team coordination.




  • Equipment Management Operate and maintain specialized NICU equipment, ensuring functionality and safety.




  • Discharge Planning & Follow-Up Facilitate smooth transitions from hospital to home, including post-discharge monitoring and parental guidance.




  • Infection Control Compliance Adhere to strict infection prevention protocols to safeguard vulnerable neonatal patients.




  • Developmental & Comfort Care Promote a nurturing environment that supports neonatal development and comfort.




  • Professional Development Engage in ongoing education and contribute to unit-based quality improvement initiatives.




Compensation




  • Hourly Rate: $39.21 – $45.45 (commensurate with experience)

Candidate Requirements




  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)




  • NCLEX-RN Pass (or in progress)




  • Alaska RN License (or willingness to obtain)




  • English Proficiency Examination (if applicable)




  • Current BLS and ACLS/PALS certifications




  • Minimum of 24 months recent experience in an acute care setting




  • Commitment to relocate for a minimum of three years
