Job Description - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Manager NICU

Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse Manager for a top healthcare client in Austin, TX.

This leadership role oversees daily operations of a high-acuity Level III NICU with 97 beds, an average census of 75, and 150 total FTEs. The Manager is responsible for ensuring exceptional standards of neonatal care, maintaining compliance with evidence-based practices, and fostering a culture of clinical excellence, teamwork, and accountability across all shifts.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations, staffing, and clinical performance of the 97-bed Level III NICU.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care through adherence to evidence-based standards.
  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff, fostering professional development and accountability.
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Manage departmental budgets, equipment maintenance, and resource allocation.
  • Support compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Identify training needs and promote continuous staff education and clinical competency.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of healthcare experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of acute care leadership experience required

Certifications/Licenses

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact State license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Specialty certification (e.g., RNC-NIC or equivalent) required within 6 months of hire
  • ACLS preferred
