Job Description - NES CTE Teacher (Non Foundational Program of Study)

Location: Sterling High School \n\nDepartment: Sterling HS \n\nArea:South \n\nContract Months:10 \n\nSalary Range: $76,000.00 \u2013 $82,000.00 \n\nAcademic Year: 25-26 \n\n## POSITION SUMMARY\n\nAs a New Education System (NES) Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher, you will be part of HISD\u2019s transformation to provide high-quality, career-focused instruction that prepares students for success in the workforce and beyond. If you are ready to make a lasting impact, HISD wants you on the team.\n\nTeacher EVP\n\n## ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES\n\nStudent-Centered Instruction \u0026 Learning \n\u2022 Develop and implement high-quality, standards-aligned lesson plans that engage and challenge students while meeting career and technical education (CTE) program goals. \n\u2022 Foster an inclusive, dynamic classroom environment that cultivates students\u0027 skills, interests, and career aspirations. \n\u2022 Personalize instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students, ensuring equity and access to high-quality learning experiences. \nHigh-Performance Teaching \u0026 Continuous Improvement \n\u2022 Prepare rigorous, hands-on lessons that incorporate real-world applications, industry certifications, and technical skills. \n\u2022 Establish clear learning objectives that align with CTE pathways and workforce readiness standards. \n\u2022 Utilize data-driven assessment strategies to monitor student progress and adjust instruction to maximize learning outcomes. \n\u2022 Continuously improve instructional practices through professional development, coaching, and collaboration with colleagues. \nClassroom \u0026 Student Engagement \n\u2022 Set and maintain high expectations for student achievement and behavior in alignment with HISD\u2019s positive school culture. \n\u2022 Integrate project-based learning, industry partnerships, and real-world experiences into instruction. \n\u2022 Guide students in career exploration, employability skills, and professional conduct, preparing them for post-secondary success.\n\n## ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES CONTINUED\n\nCollaboration \u0026 Communication \n\u2022 Maintain open, professional communication with students, parents, colleagues, and industry partners to support student success. \n\u2022 Work closely with campus and district leaders to ensure that CTE programs align with workforce needs and student interests. \n\u2022 Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), staff meetings, and training to enhance instructional effectiveness. \nCompliance \u0026 Student Safety \n\u2022 Follow HISD policies, state regulations, and CTE program requirements to ensure compliance with curriculum standards and safety protocols. \n\u2022 Maintain accurate records of student performance, industry certifications, and program documentation. \n\u2022 Supervise students in hands-on learning environments, ensuring safety, professionalism, and responsibility. \nCommitment to Excellence \u0026 Growth \n\u2022 Participate in ongoing professional learning to stay current with industry trends, instructional strategies, and technology advancements. \n\u2022 Support the broader mission of HISD\u2019s New Education System by embracing innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. \n\u2022 Be a mentor and leader within the HISD teaching community, modeling excellence in instruction, professionalism, and student engagement. \nOther Responsibilities \n\u2022 Engage in district initiatives, contribute to school-wide goals, and take on leadership opportunities where applicable. \n\u2022 Perform other job-related duties as assigned to support student learning and career readiness.\n\n## POSITION REQUIREMENTS\n\nN/A\n\n## Education\n\n * Minimum of a Bachelor\u2019s degree from an accredited college or university.\n * Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for level and/or subject area of assignment.\n\n\n\n## Experience\n\nN/A\n\n## Other Requirements\n\n\u25aa Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district. \n\u25aa Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district. \n\u25aa Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard. \n\u25aa Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, twist, bend, climb, and/or be mobile. \n\u25aa Ability to travel throughout the district and city by means of private or public transportation.
