Job Description - Network Administrator

The Network Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of BVRMC’s enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring secure, stable, and high‑performing connectivity across all clinical and business operations. This role leads the installation and maintenance of LAN, WAN, and wireless systems; configures and optimizes network performance; and ensures reliable connectivity for servers, workstations, telephony, and medical devices. The administrator monitors network health, troubleshoots issues, maintains documentation, and manages network assets, upgrades, and vendor relationships.

In partnership with the System Administrator, this position supports cohesive operation between network, server, virtualization, and storage environments. Responsibilities include coordinating patching cycles, firmware updates, system hardening, and validating network readiness for server and application upgrades. The Network Administrator assists with troubleshooting infrastructure issues that impact performance or user access and provides cross‑training and backup coverage for critical systems.

This role also contributes to security, compliance, and disaster recovery efforts by supporting data center operations, maintaining secure physical access systems, developing policies and procedures, and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements. The administrator participates in disaster recovery planning and testing, supports enterprise applications affected by network conditions, and stays current with emerging technologies through ongoing training.

Strong communication and customer service skills are essential, as the Network Administrator regularly assists nontechnical users, collaborates with leaders across the organization, and interacts professionally with staff, patients, and visitors. The role includes participation in rotating after‑hours on‑call support and performing additional duties as assigned to maintain a safe, secure, and fully operational computing environment.

College diploma or degree in Computer Science and two years of experience required.  Network certifications and additional experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
