Position Location: Chantilly, VA

Position Description:

We are seeking a Network Engineer responsible for configuration, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a critical operational network. Provides an engineering resource to support data communications and related applications requirements. Provides administrative support of installed systems/networks. Responsible for planning and implementing the necessary hardware, software and telecommunications equipment to maintain and/or enhance the organization’s networks.  Evaluates vendor products and recommends purchases. Recommends and implements network policies and procedures and ensures adherence to security procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in installations, configurations, upgrades, and maintenance of network equipment (switches, firewalls, and load balancers)
• Monitor network performance and troubleshooting
• Document network configurations and diagrams
• Provide technical support to system operators
• Assist in implementing STIG compliance

Desired Knowledge and Skills:

• TCP/IP Model
• Routing
• Switching

• Multi-chassis groups - Multi-Link Aggregation Domain or Switch Aggregation Groups
• Link Aggregation Control Protocol 802.3ad
• VLANs and VLAN Trunking, (802.1q & 802.3ac)
• Network Time Protocol  
• Troubleshooting
• Access Control Lists

• Firewalls

• Security Zone
• Security Policies
• Network Address Translation
• Troubleshooting

• Load Balancing

• Virtual Servers
• Server Pool
• Health Checks

Education and Experience: 

• Bachelor’s in  computer science or information technology, 10+ years of experience
• Master’s in  computer science or information technology, 5+ years of experience
• Must currently possess a TS/SCI w/CI polygraph.
