Network Engineer

About the Role

Opplane is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Engineer specializing in networking, transport connectivity, and networking products.

This is a client-facing role where you will provide day-to-day support to enterprise customers by deploying, configuring, and operating networking solutions across a variety of customer environments. You will collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing network solutions while providing technical guidance throughout customer deployments and operations.

Requirements

Networking

• Strong Network Engineering background.
• Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VxLAN, and L2/L3 VPN technologies.
• Experience deploying and troubleshooting BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
• Good understanding of WAN technologies, including SD-WAN and IPsec VPN.
• Good understanding of 4G LTE / 5G Core networks.
• Knowledge of Mobile Private Networks (MPN).
• Experience using network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools.

Cloud & Virtualization

• Experience with cloud networking across multiple cloud platforms.
• Understanding of OpenStack Platform (OSP), including Heat/HOT Templates.
• Experience with Virtual Network Functions (VNF) and Cloud-Native Network Functions (CNF).

Automation & Development

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with Python.
• Experience with Terraform.
• Experience with Ansible.
• Experience with Git and GitHub.

Linux

• Experience working with Linux Shell.
• Ability to troubleshoot Linux-based networking environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Transport & Routing Support: Provide transport and routing support during product deployments within customer environments.
• WAN Technologies: Support WAN technologies including SD-WAN, IPsec VPN, and routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
• Cloud Deployments: Support cloud-based deployments, including Virtual Network Functions (VNF) and Cloud-Native Network Functions (CNF).
• Platform Packaging: Package and deploy solutions supporting OpenStack Platform (OSP), including Heat/HOT Templates and other cloud platforms.
• Infrastructure Automation: Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
• Network Management: Support network management activities and product deployments across customer environments.
• Customer Success: Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers, providing technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and ensuring successful solution deployments.

Nice to Have

• Understanding of Kubernetes (K8s), WebScale, and cloud-native technologies.
• Linux certification.
• CCNA or CCNP certification.
• Hands-on experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN) and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with overlay and tunnelling technologies.
• Previous experience working in startup environments.
• Experience with one or more Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, Alibaba Cloud, etc.).

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience as a Network Engineer
• Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent industry experience.
