Job Description - Network Field Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Network Infrastructure Deployment Engineer to perform the on-site installation and implementation of customer-furnished Sophos XGS firewalls and CS110 switches at a live production site in multiple Texas location. Responsibilities include rack installation, network and HA/stacking cabling, PDU/power verification, connecting the ISP WAN hand off to the Sophos firewall, equipment and connectivity testing, and following the approved network diagram and maintenance window. The engineer must have strong hands-on experience with enterprise networking, firewalls, switches, structured cabling, and network cutovers. Rack/cabinet procurement, PDU installation, ISP circuit provisioning, and carrier-side work are outside the scope of this role. This is a part time contract role.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

3+ years of experience in network infrastructure deployment or network engineering.
Hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting enterprise network equipment.
Experience with firewalls, switches, routers, and network appliances.
Experience with rack installation, structured cabling, patch panels, and network equipment.
Understanding of Ethernet, VLANs, trunking, LACP, HA, and basic Layer 2/Layer 3 networking.
Experience with physical WAN/ISP hand offs including copper, fiber, and SFP-based connectivity.
Ability to read and follow network diagrams and rack layouts.
Experience working in production/data-center environments.
Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
Ability to work within an approved maintenance/change window.
Must follow customer security, safety, and site-access procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Sophos XGS firewalls and Sophos HA.
Experience with Sophos CS110 switches and switch stacking.
CCNA/CCNP, Network+, or equivalent networking experience.
Experience with enterprise network cutovers and migration projects.
Data-center or critical-infrastructure deployment experience.
