Job Description - Network Operations Specialist

This is an onsite role, Tuesday - Saturday, 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Smithville Communications is seeking a Network Operations Specialist to join our Ellettsville, Indiana team. Network Operations Specialists are responsible for providing support to all internal departments and external customers in need of escalated troubleshooting with regards to the Smithville's network, both data and voice. This includes assisting with the maintenance and configuration of the network and monitoring alarms, diagnosing their cause, and assisting with final resolution. The Specialist will also assist with processes, procedures, auditing, and documentation related to the network.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Assisting other departments with troubleshooting
Monitoring network health, identifying events and opportunities for optimization
Performing configuration of the network
Completing projects and special assignments
Performing configuration on Metaswitch
Maintaining records, documentation, audits, and Method of Procedure (MOP)
Connecting/disconnecting when auto provisioning fails

WHAT YOU NEED

High School Diploma or equivalent
Practical experience configuring network devices; Cisco preferred
High level of decision-making skills, independent thinker
Experience configuring services within a Linux and/or Windows environment
Experience working within a Network Operations environment preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail
Good project management skills; ability to work to deadlines
Methodical and analytical approach
Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Typically works 40 hours per week; may work overtime, evenings, and/or weekends as needed to meet critical deadlines or respond to problems
Work is typically completed indoors in a quiet/low noise, climate-controlled office environment (office, meeting room, or similar), sitting and walking a majority of the day.
Vision requirements: close, distance, color, and depth vision.
Manual dexterity, and mobility to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, twist and climb, reaching at/below shoulder level, pulling, and lifting up to 15 pounds.
