Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Neuro Trauma ICU Registered Nurse (NTICU RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Chico, California.
This position is intended for a highly experienced critical care nurse with a strong background in neuro ICU, trauma ICU, and high-acuity acute-care nursing.
Candidates must have at least 5 years of acute critical care experience, prior Level II trauma critical care experience, recent Epic charting experience, and previous travel nursing experience.
The RN will provide direct care to critically ill neurological and trauma patients who may require continuous monitoring, advanced life-support therapies, complex medication management, and rapid clinical intervention.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide direct nursing care to critically ill neuro and trauma patients.
· Perform comprehensive head-to-toe and neurological assessments.
· Conduct frequent neuro checks and recognize subtle changes in neurological status.
· Monitor cardiac rhythm, vital signs, respiratory status, hemodynamics, and other critical-care parameters.
· Recognize rapid deterioration and initiate appropriate emergency interventions.
· Manage patients with complex neurological and traumatic injuries.
· Administer high-risk medications, IV infusions, blood products, and other ordered treatments.
· Manage and titrate vasoactive and other critical-care medications according to provider orders and facility protocols.
· Care for patients requiring mechanical ventilation and advanced respiratory support.
· Monitor patients with invasive lines and monitoring devices.
· Support management of intracranial pressure monitoring and other neuro-critical care interventions when applicable.
· Provide postoperative care for neurosurgical and trauma patients.
· Participate in emergency response, rapid response, and code situations.
· Collaborate with intensivists, neurosurgeons, trauma surgeons, neurologists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
· Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and clinical handoffs.
· Provide education and emotional support to patients and families.
· Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic.
· Follow critical-care, trauma, infection-control, and patient-safety standards.
Required Experience
Candidates must have:
· Minimum 5 years of acute critical care nursing experience
· Strong ICU nursing background
· Neuro ICU and/or neuro-trauma critical care experience
· Level II trauma critical care experience
· Previous travel nursing experience
· Recent Epic charting experience
· Experience managing high-acuity and medically complex ICU patients
· Strong neurological assessment skills
· Ability to recognize and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition
Required Licensure & Certifications
Candidates must have:
· Active California Registered Nurse license
· Current BLS
· Current ACLS
All required licenses and certifications must remain current throughout the assignment.

Schedule Requirements
· Day Shift
· Three 12-hour shifts per week
· 7:00 AM start time
· 36 hours per week
· Weekend and holiday coverage may be required based on unit scheduling.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced Neuro Trauma ICU RN who is comfortable managing unstable neurological and trauma patients in a fast-paced critical-care environment.
You should have strong neurological assessment skills, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to independently manage complex ICU patients while collaborating effectively with physicians and other critical-care professionals.
