General Liability Claims Leader

Job Summary

Seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Liability Claims Leader to join a team. This role is pivotal in supervising claims operations while serving as a strategic partner to executive leadership. The successful candidate will analyze claims and litigation trends, assess financial and operational impacts, and recommend initiatives to reduce losses and improve outcomes. This position also involves overseeing a team of adjusters, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, and providing training and consultation to members.

Compensation Package

• Salary: $115,000 - $140,000 per year


• Benefits: Comprehensive pension plan.

Responsibilities

• Supervise claims operations and oversee a team of three adjusters.


• Act as a strategic partner to executive leadership by identifying emerging risks and providing actionable insights.


• Analyze claims and litigation trends to recommend initiatives that reduce losses and improve member outcomes.


• Ensure timely reporting to reinsurers and excess insurance providers.


• Review coverage documents, determine coverage issues, and oversee subrogation recovery efforts.


• Provide strategic oversight of litigation and defense counsel.


• Deliver training and consultation to members to enhance risk management practices.


• Serve as a staff liaison to assigned Steering Committees and participate in Committee and Board meetings.


• Collaborate with leadership and other departments to translate claims experience into actionable strategies.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience handling General Liability/Bodily Injury claims.


• At least 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience.


• In-depth knowledge of Illinois law and experience handling claims in Illinois.


• Proven experience managing claims for municipalities or public entity accounts.


• Open to candidates with backgrounds in Third-Party Administrators (TPA), carriers, or self-insured municipalities.
