Human Resources Generalist / Employee Benefits Account Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist / Employee Benefits Account Manager to join their growing team. This unique role combines HR generalist responsibilities with employee benefits account management.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in employee benefits and HR, ideally from an insurance agency, benefits brokerage, or PEO environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys both client-facing benefits work and hands-on HR responsibilities and is looking for a role with variety, flexibility, and meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Benefits Account Management 

• Manage and maintain relationships with employee benefits clients


• Serve as a trusted resource and primary point of contact for client needs


• Support benefits administration, renewals, open enrollment, and employee communications


• Assist clients with benefit plan questions, issues, and ongoing service needs


• Coordinate with carriers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure a high level of client service


• Help educate employees and clients on benefit offerings and plan changes


• Review plan information and identify opportunities to improve client service and benefits programs


• Provide proactive communication and follow-up throughout the benefits lifecycle


• Maintain accurate client documentation and ensure timely completion of deliverables


• Serve as a team lead or senior resource for benefits-related activities as needed

Human Resources 

• Manage recruiting activities from job posting through offer stage, including proactive candidate sourcing


• Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding


• Create and maintain job descriptions


• Support employee relations matters and advise managers on performance and workplace issues


• Assist with employee documentation, corrective actions, and policy-related matters


• Manage unemployment claims and related documentation


• Support HR compliance and policy administration


• Help ensure consistent employment practices and minimize organizational risk


• Provide day-to-day HR support to employees and managers


• Serve as a resource to leadership on HR-related questions and best practices


• Provide backup support for payroll and benefits administration when needed

Qualifications

• 5+ years of HR generalist and/or employee benefits experience


• Strong background in employee benefits account management


• Experience working in an insurance agency, benefits brokerage, PEO, or similar environment strongly preferred


• Experience managing client relationships and serving as a primary account contact


• Previous experience in a team lead, senior account manager, or similar benefits-focused role preferred


• Strong recruiting and employee relations experience


• Knowledge of employment law and HR compliance practices


• Strong understanding of employee benefits and benefits administration


• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills


• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through


• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and exercise sound judgment


• Strong client-service mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships


• SHRM or HRCI certification is a plus

• Competitive Compensation: $80,000–$85,000 base salary + company bonus


• Hybrid work environment. 


• Work from home Tuesdays and Fridays for most of the year


• During Q4, Fridays are remote


• Summer hours include an early Friday departure
