Project Manager (Utility-Scale Solar) | Central Texas + Future Texas Projects
Is your current solar build wrapping up, and would you rather your next project was in Texas?
This EPC is hiring between one and three Project Managers for its next wave of Texas solar work. It’s a permanent, salaried, site-based role with an energy division that keeps winning bigger jobs.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll run a utility-scale solar build from start to finish. That means the schedule, the budget, the subcontractors, the client and the risk. Projects in the pipeline range from around 80 MW up to 400 MW.
Some jobs are full EPC and others are construction-only, so you’ll need to be comfortable with both. Plenty of the work is self-perform, so you’ll be leading the company’s own crews as well as subs.
How you’ll start
This division likes to bring Project Managers in early and get them properly settled before they take on a project. You’ll start on an active 250 MW build in Central Texas, learning how they build, which subs they trust and how the team runs a job. You’ll also spend some time with the bidding and engineering teams at the Houston-area head office.
They’re hiring now because more work is on the way. The division is bidding four or five Texas solar projects and expects to win at least three, several of them for its own sister company’s development arm. By the time your project lands, you’ll already know the people, the systems and how they work, so you can lead it from day one.
Nearly all of the pipeline is in Texas, so if that’s where you want to build your career, this is a good place to do it.
Who you’ll work with
The division grew out of a global infrastructure group headquartered in Spain. You’ll work alongside a lot of colleagues from Spain and elsewhere in Europe, and many of the field crews speak only Spanish. You don’t need Spanish, but if you have it, you’ll use it every day.
What you’ll need
What you’ll get
Base salary up to $175k, plus a $1,000 weekly allowance (taxable) and an annual bonus. That figure is flexible for the right experience, so if you’re above it, get in touch anyway. On top of that:
You’ll interview with the division’s EVP and its director of operations.
The company
This is the energy division of one of the US’s largest civil contractors, set up as a joint venture with a global infrastructure business listed on the NASDAQ. The division is about four years old. It started with a 72 MW project in Texas, has since built at 250 and 275 MW, and has work under way in South Carolina too.
