New Job Opening: Puppet Engineer in Remote

Job Description

Puppet Engineer

Most organisations moved on from Puppet. This one didn't, and it needs people who still know it inside out.

If you've spent years writing manifests, wrangling Hiera and keeping large fleets in line, your skills are in short supply right now. We'd love to talk.

The opportunity

- 6 month contract, fully remote

- Direct engagement with the end customer

- Large, complex enterprise environment with a serious focus on stability and security

- Join an established infrastructure team that values getting things right

What you'll be doing

- Building, maintaining and improving Puppet code across a large server estate

- Managing configuration for Linux (and some Windows) environments

- Refactoring and tidying existing modules to improve reliability

- Working with infrastructure and security teams to keep systems compliant and consistent

- Troubleshooting configuration drift and deployment issues

What you'll bring

- Strong hands-on experience with Puppet (Puppet Enterprise a plus)

- Solid working knowledge of Hiera, PuppetDB and r10k or Code Manager

- Deep Linux experience, ideally RHEL

- Comfortable with Git and CI/CD workflows

- Ruby or scripting experience (Bash, Python, PowerShell)

- Bonus: exposure to Ansible, Terraform or other automation tools
