Job Description - New Operations Planning Technician II (Compressors)
Pay Rate: $57/ hr. Job Title: New Operations Planning Technician II Location: Midland, TX Schedule: Monday–Friday | 5/2 | 40 Hours per Week
Position Overview We are seeking a New Operations Planning Technician to support cost, schedule, and project controls for a variety of start-up and readiness projects across upstream oil & gas operations. This role will work closely with field operations, project engineers, compressor foremen, and support functions to maintain alignment on deliverables, schedules, and readiness tools. If you're experienced in cost tracking, planning, Smartsheet dashboards, and cross-functional coordination, this is an opportunity to contribute directly to one of the Permian Basin’s most critical operations teams. Key Responsibilities
Maintain and update the Operations Readiness project list; coordinate changes with the New Ops Superintendent and stakeholders
Track and maintain deliverables across Operations, Facilities, Maintenance, SSHE, and other internal teams
Build dashboards and management reports using Smartsheet, Excel, and other tools
Support Compressor Commissioning team with cost forecasting, scheduling, and variance reporting
Collaborate with internal teams to develop and adapt readiness deliverables using company templates
Identify project overruns/underruns and recommend corrective actions
Facilitate communication between New Ops team and other departments to ensure project alignment
Assist in enhancing and maintaining readiness tools, SharePoint databases, and workflow documentation
Work alongside advisors to support multiple ongoing capital project handovers and start-up planning
Skills & Qualifications
3–7 years of experience in project planning, cost control, or scheduling in upstream or midstream operations
Experience with start-up and handover of capital projects strongly preferred
Proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Smartsheet required
Power BI or similar dashboard/reporting experience is a plus
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage and report on cross-functional deliverables, timelines, and project milestones
Self-motivated and capable of light administrative work related to scheduling and reporting
Strong team collaboration and ability to interface with field, office, and leadership personnel
Must be local to Midland, TX — this is an in-office position with occasional flexibility (hybrid potential, not guaranteed
