Title: New Part Launch Engineer

Department: Engineering

Reports to: Engineering Leader

Position Summary:

The new part launch engineer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating various new product launch projects, and processes within the engineering department at Sacoma. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing operations, project management expertise, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. The new part launch engineer will lead initiatives aimed at optimizing production efficiency, enhancing quality, and implementing new technologies or processes. This role involves aligning program objectives with overall business goals, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and fostering a culture of innovation and sustainability. Effective communication, strategic planning, and the ability to navigate complex challenges are integral to success.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Schedule and lead new part kickoff meetings.
  • Communicate launch details.
  • Coordinate developing the master schedule for all APQP milestones.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, while maintaining adherence to compliance and safety standards.
  • Monitor and Maintain the Master APQP Schedule.
  • Utilize data analysis and performance metrics to drive decision-making.
  • Track on time delivery of all tasks and submissions.
  • Facilitate weekly APQP meetings.
  • Coordinate issues with Sales or customer.
  • Participate in process development with a cross function team.
  • Attending DQR's and print reviews.
  • Provide answers to print questions using available resources.
  • Tooling & Gages
  • Order and coordinate delivery of purchased tooling & gages.
  • Perform tooling and gage DQR's.
  • Coordinate building of in house made tooling and fixtures
  • Maintain tooling budget tracking.
  • Support Prototype Lead in the build process (as needed as time allows), help build parts if needed.
  • Research ideas to improve the build process.
  • Quote new parts (as needed as time allows)
  • Support developing documentation.
  • Flow, PFMEA & Control Plans
  • Work Detail Sheets
  • Customer Packaging Plan Submissions
  • Maintain equipment capacity analysis as new products are added.
  • Analyze performance to quote after startup to identify areas of improvement and provide this feedback for future quoting.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and operations
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and processes
  • Knowledge of risk management strategies
  • Understanding supply chain management principles, including procurement, inventory management and logistics.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and technology
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices
  • Experience with enterprise, resource, and planning software.

  • Project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams and coordinate activities across different departments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to interact with team members at all levels in a clear and professional manner.
  • Able to make decisions addressing complex issues, solve problems, and make strategic choices.
  • Strategic planning skills to align program objectives with overall business goals.
  • Leadership and coaching skills used to develop and mentor team members.
  • Capability to drive innovation and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the manufacturing organization.

Education / Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred.
  • Proven experience in program or project management within a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality management, and supply chain operations.
  • Proficiency in project management tools, risk assessment, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to lead and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic planning acumen, with the ability to align program objectives with business strategy and market demands.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move, navigate, and walk through production areas, warehouses, and other operational spaces.
  • Capability to stand, sit, and work at a computer or desk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, stand and walk on concrete for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English efficiently.
  • Capacity to lift and move objects weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Comfort with wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Agility and flexibility to adapt to different working conditions within the manufacturing setting, including exposure to noise, temperature variations, and potentially hazardous materials or machinery.




Compensation details: 70000-90000 Yearly Salary
