New Patient RN Coordinator - Univ Pulmonary & Critical Care (UPCC)

University Physicians' Association is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time New Patient RN Coordinator position for University Pulmonary & Critical Care (UPCC) located at the UT Medical Center.

General Summary of Duties: The UPCC New Patient Coordinator is a registered nurse who facilitates new patient visit coordination for UPCC. This position plans, coordinates and facilitates the care of new patients in UPCC to optimize the intake of patients and improve the throughput through the clinic.

Job duties include:

o Optimization of New Patient Intake at UPCC

o Review upcoming clinics to optimize intake and ensure all available records are organized for the providers.

o Assist with identifying open slots in the clinic to help with access

o Assist with identifying and coordinating any needed upcoming testing such as imaging, pulmonary function testing, or other invasive testing

o Upload CT imaging in PACS

o Conducts clinical interviews with patients to assess a variety of patient needs.

o Suggests solutions to patient care problems and complaints.

o Assists physician in completing medical records concerning medical history, diagnosis, prognosis, and current treatment plans. Maintains required records in electronic chart.

o OSHA and HIPPA compliance (must be familiar with and abide by policies)

o Will work diligently as patient advocate between insurance company, patient, and physician to aid in prior authorizations for medications and/or procedures when needed.

o Assist provider and patient with pharmacy refill requests by faxing, e-scribing, or telephoning requests to pharmacy.

o Performs other duties which may be inclusive, but not listed in job description.

Requirements

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures in order to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care. Skill in identifying problems, researching and recommending solutions. Skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly with medical staff and patients.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Registered Nurse; bachelor’s degree
